Glasgow Airport Guide (GLA)
Glasgow Airport, located near the town of Paisley to the west of Glasgow, is the largest airport in western Scotland. Our Glasgow Airport guide includes contact information on facilities, transport and accommodation options, plus contact details for the airport.

Glasgow Airport's information desk is on the first floor, next to the domestic arrivals/departures area. There are computer information kiosks on the ground floor and a Visit Scotland tourist information office (tel: (0141) 848 4400/4758) in International Arrivals, providing tourist and accommodation information.
From central Glasgow, take the M8 motorway to Junction 28. Glasgow Airport is clearly signposted.
Public Transport
Rail: The Gilmour Street Railway Station in Paisley is around 3km (2 miles) from Glasgow Airport and only a few minutes away by taxi or local bus. Trains run to Glasgow Central. For more information, contact the 24-hour National Rail Enquiries line (tel: 0845 748 4950; www.nationalrail.co.uk).
Bus: First’s Glasgow Shuttle (tel: (01224) 650 100 ; www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/glasgow) operates 24 hours a day between Glasgow Airport and the city centre (journey time: 25 minutes; fare: £5). Bus 747 (AirLink) also operates to the city centre via Renfrew, Braehead, Partick and Charing Cross (journey time: 50 minutes; fare: £4.10). Buses are also available to other destinations. Taxi: Metered taxis are available 24 hours a day. The taxi rank is immediately outside the terminal building. The fare to the city centre is around £22, and the journey time is generally 20 minutes, depending traffic conditions.
Terminal facilities
Bureaux de change and ATMs are located either side of security. Currency can be pre-ordered online and picked up at the airport through American Express (www.travelmoneynow.com/uk) or Travelex (www.travelex.co.uk/baa).
Wireless internet access is available throughout Glasgow Airport for a fee, and there are also fixed internet kiosks and desks. There is a post box for letters in the check-in area.
A good choice of restaurants, cafés and bars is concentrated on the first floor, after security. A number of options are also available pre-security, including a sports bar and a pub.
Shopping includes duty-free for passengers travelling outside the EU as well as retailers selling a range of items, including newsagents, specialist Scottish-themed gift shops and fashion outlets.
The left-luggage office (tel: (0141) 848 4740) is situated in the check-in hall. A lost property service (tel: (0141) 848 4740) is also available. Uniformed members of staff are on hand to assist with baggage.
Other facilities at Glasgow Airport include a pharmacy, baby-care facilities and children's play areas.
Airport facilities
A business workstation with telephone, fax and internet facilities is available on the first floor concourse. The Skylounge airport lounge is available to all passengers for a fee, and offers free internet access, complimentary drinks and newspapers. The Glasgow Airport Business Centre (tel: (0141) 847 5450) is next to the terminal building and offers meeting rooms, conference and training facilities and full secretarial support. Conference and meeting facilities are also available at some nearby hotels, including the Ramada Glasgow Airport (tel: (0141) 843 4800; www.ramada.co.uk) and the Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport (tel: 0871 942 9031; www.holidayinn.com).
Facilities for disabled passengers include wheelchair-accessible toilets, ramps, lifts and reserved seating and car parking. For the hard of hearing there are induction loops, TDD telephones and a Minicom information line (tel: (0141) 848 4848). Passengers should advise their airline in advance of their needs. Passengers requiring assistance from the car park to the terminals should arrange this in advance by contacting Premi-Air (tel: (0141) 842 7700).
Short-stay, long-stay and business parking are all available at Glasgow Airport, with services operated by NCP (tel: 0845 050 7080; www.ncp.co.uk). The short-stay car parks are within walking distance of the terminals and there are regular transfer coaches to the terminal from the long-stay car park. Discounted long-stay parking can be pre-booked through BAA Advance (tel: (0121) 410 5105). A fast-track service is also available in the short-stay Car Park 2 for a higher fee.
Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and National are all represented at Glasgow Airport. These companies have desks in Arrivals.
Airport hotels
Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport is within the grounds of Glasgow Airport, just a minute's walk of the terminal. The hotel has an on-site restaurant, lounge and business centre offering 18 meeting rooms.
The Premier Inn Glasgow Airport is located next to the airport site and near to Braehead’s shopping complex. The hotel has an on-site restaurant and car parking space for guests.
Housing 108 rooms and offering free internet access, on-site dining and a choice of meeting rooms, the Ramada Glasgow Airport is a short distance from the airport, to which it is linked by a shuttle bus service.
