Glasgow Airport is currently investing £2 million on improving access by road. It is also to host Tesco's first ever airport supermarket. However, the proposed rail link from Glasgow Central station has now been shelved.
The airport information desk is on the first floor, next to the Domestic Arrivals/Departures area. There are computer information kiosks on the ground floor and a Visit Scotland tourist information office (tel: (0141) 848 4400/4758) in International Arrivals, providing tourist and accommodation information.
From central Glasgow, take the M8 motorway to Junction 28. The airport is clearly signposted.
Public Transport
Rail: The Gilmour Street railway station in Paisley is 3km (2 miles) from the airport and is only a few minutes away by taxi or local bus. Trains run to Glasgow Central rail station. For more information, contact the 24-hour National Rail enquiries line (tel: 0845 748 4950; www.nationalrail.co.uk).
Bus: The Glasgow Flyer (tel: 0844 800 4411; www.glasgowflyer.com) runs 24 hours a day into the city centre. Buses are also available to other destinations. For more information on travel to/from the airport, contact Travel Line Scotland (tel: 0871 200 2233; www.travelinescotland.com).
Taxi: Metered taxis are available 24 hours a day.
Terminal facilities
The airport has bureaux de change, ATMs, a post office and telephones equipped with fax and e-mail facilities. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the airport for a fee.
Restaurants, cafés and bars are concentrated on the first floor.
Shopping includes duty-free for passengers travelling outside the EU and a range of both everyday and luxury outlets.
The left-luggage facility (tel: (0141) 848 4938) is open daily 24 hours. A lost property service (tel: (0141) 848 4740) is also available. Uniformed members of staff are on hand to assist with baggage.
These include a pharmacy, baby-care facilities and children's play areas.
Airport facilities
A business workstation with telephone, fax and Internet facilities is available on the first floor concourse. The Glasgow Airport Business Centre (tel: (0141) 847 5450) offers meeting rooms, conference and training facilities, an IT suite and full secretarial support. The Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce (tel: (0141) 847 5499; www.renfrewshirechamber.com) operates a conference centre close to the terminal, and there is a Servisair Executive Lounge, with credit-card operated telephones and fax facilities. Conference facilities for up to 35 delegates are available at the Premier Inn (tel: 0871 527 8434; www.premierinn.com).
Facilities include wheelchair-accessible toilets, ramps, lifts and reserved seating, as well as induction loops, a TDD telephone and a Minicom information line (tel: (0141) 848 4848). Passengers should advise their airline in advance of their needs. Disabled parking spaces are available. Passengers requiring assistance from the car park to the terminals should arrange this in advance by contacting Unity (tel: (0141) 848 7568).
Short-stay, long-stay and business parking are all available, operated by NCP (tel: 0845 050 7080; www.ncp.co.uk). The short-stay car parks are all within walking distance of the terminals, and there are regular transfer coaches to the terminal from the long-stay car park. Long-stay parking with discounts can be pre-booked through BAA Advance (tel: (0121) 410 5105 or online via the airport's website.
Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and National have desks next to Domestic Arrivals.
Airport hotels
Express by Holiday Inn is located within the grounds of Glasgow Airport and is linked via a covered walkway. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi Internet, a valet parking service, a bar and a business centre.
Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport is within the grounds of Glasgow Airport as is within a minute's walk of the terminal. The hotel has a restaurant, lounge and business centre.
Premier Inn is located within the grounds of Glasgow Airport and it has an on-site restaurant.
