Extensive renovations were recently completed within the terminals, and Des Moines International Airport is currently constructing a new car rental facility and a new runway. The airport is now run by the Des Moines Airport Authority, having passed from city administration.

From the north, follow Interstate 35 southbound, and from the west, follow Interstate 80 eastbound to Interstate 235; exit at Martin Luther King Parkway and proceed south until it meets with Fleur Drive, which connects to Des Moines International Airport.
From the south, take Interstate 35 northbound to Iowa-5, go east 11km (7 miles), exit at Fleur Drive and proceed north to the airport.
From the east, follow Interstate 80 westbound to Route 65 South; turn north at the Fleur Drive exit and proceed 3km (2 miles) to the airport.

Public transport road:
Bus: Des Moines Area Regional Transit (tel: (515) 283 8100; www.dmmta.com) operates local bus 8 and the express route 90/Airport South Express from Des Moines International Airport to the city centre (Monday-Friday only). The journey time to downtown Des Moines is around 20 minutes, and the single fare US$1.75 on the local bus or US$2 on the express service. Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency (tel: 1 877 686 0029; www.hirtapublictransit.com) provides transport to the surrounding areas.
Taxi: Capitol Cab Company (tel: (515) 282 8111), Alpha Taxi (tel: (515) 280 1813), Freedom TaxiCab (tel: (515) 289 9800), United Cab Ltd (tel: (515) 277 7784) and Yellow Cab Company (tel: (515) 243 1111) provide taxi services from Des Moines International Airport. There are two ATMs, one in the lower area of the terminal, the other in the concourse after security.
Communication:
Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the terminal and concourse. The Capital City Gift Shop near the meet and greet area offers parcel delivery services.
Food:
There is a food court offering a range of fast-food options, a full-service grill restaurant, a pub and a full-service restaurant serving a range of cuisines. A few other food outlets are available in the concourse.
Shopping:
A shop selling gifts, traveller's convenience items, newspapers and magazines can be found on the lobby level. There is also a flower shop on the concourse level.

The Business Center, open from 0500 to 2200, provides desk space, a telephone service, internet access and lounge space. It is located on Concourse A. Meeting rooms of varying sizes (up to 80 delegates) are available on the skywalk level of the main terminal (tel: (515) 256 5100), and at many local hotels.
Disabled facilities:
Des Moines International Airport is fully accessible for disabled travellers. There are lifts, ramps, adapted toilets and TDD phones in the concourses and on the lower level of the terminal. Wheelchairs are available on request from the passenger’s airline. Disabled parking is available near the lifts on all levels of the main car park.
Car parking:
The multi-storey short- and long-term car parks are located opposite the terminal building. There is one economy car park near the terminal, and two further economy areas further from the building parking. A 24-hour shuttle bus service links these economy car parks with the terminal. A 'cell phone lot' is available for ‘meeters and greeters’.
