Boston Logan International Airport Guide (BOS)
The largest airport in New England, Boston Logan International Airport is a key hub for both domestic and international flights. Terminal E is currently undergoing a $100 million renovation, which includes general improvements, expansions and a post-security connector between the terminal and Terminal C. Work is scheduled for completion in 2017.
There are help desks in every terminal; these are staffed by airport representatives who can assist with queries regarding services, transportation and flight information.
A complimentary shuttle service links the terminals, the airport subway station, the Water Transportation Terminal and remote economy parking areas. Buses generally run every 5-6 minutes.
From the west and south, drivers should take the Massachusetts Turnpike East, which connects with the Ted Williams Tunnel and leads directly to Boston Logan International Airport.
From the north, drivers should follow Interstate 93 and go through the Callahan Tunnel (or take Interstate 95 to Route 1 South), then follow signs from Route 1A South to the airport.
From central Boston, take Route 1A eastbound (via the Lieutenant William F. Callahan Tunnel) and momentarily merge onto the soundbound Interstate 90 before taking the dedicated airport exit to the terminals. The total drive time from central Boston to the airport is approximately 10 minutes.
Metro:Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) (tel: +1 617 222 3200; www.mbta.com) operates routes to/from Boston Logan International Airport. Take the MBTA Blue Line at Airport Station for connections to destinations within Boston (a free shuttle bus service links the station to the terminals). A single fare on Boston Subway costs US$2.65.
Bus:MBTA buses 448 and 459 serve Boston Logan International Airport and various locations in Boston (journey time: 25 minutes; fare: US$2.10). The Silver Line SL1 express service runs to central Boston (journey time: 20 minutes; fare: free) and other destinations, including Harvard University.
Bus services are also available from a number of private bus lines covering the New England area. Logan Express (tel: +1 800 235 6426) offers a frequent express bus service from all terminals to Braintree, Framingham, Woburn and Peabody (fare: US$7.50).
Taxi:Taxis are available from outside all terminals, 24 hours a day. The fare to central Boston ranges from US$25 to US$45.
Water:Courtesy bus 66 runs from all airport terminals to Logan Dock, from which it's possible to catch the Boston Water Taxi (tel: +1 617 227 4320; www.bostonharborcruises.com/water-taxi) to Boston Harbour.
The Harbor Express (tel: +1 617 222 6999) offers numerous daily connections from Logan Dock to Hingham and Hull on the South Shore (journey time: 25 minutes; fare: US$17.)
Banks, ATMs and bureaux de change are available throughout Boston Logan International Airport.
Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Boston Logan International Airport, in all terminals. Mobile phone hire, photocopying and fax facilities can be found in Terminal C.
There are plenty of bars, cafés and restaurants at Boston Logan International Airport, with options in every terminal. These include a sports bar and microbrewery in Terminal A, seafood and steak restaurants in Terminal B, a gourmet sandwich shop in Terminal C, and a wine bar in Terminal E.
There are shops in each terminal; including newsagents, gift shops, bookshops and fashion outlets. Duty-free is also available in Terminals A, B and E.
A lost and found service (tel: +1 617 568 7514) is available at the airport, and is operated by the Massachusetts Port Authority, Public Services Department.
The on-site Hyatt Boston Harbor Hotel (tel: +1 617 568 1234; bostonharbor.hyatt.com) and Hilton Boston Logan Airport Hotel (tel: +1 617 568 6700; www3.hilton.com) provide conference facilities, meeting rooms and business services.
Additionally, the Boston Convention Centre (tel: +1 617 954 2000; www.bostonconventioncenter.com) is just 5km (3 miles) from the airport.
The airport is highly accessible for disabled passengers, with specialised toilets, lifts, Braille signage and TDD services. Disabled car parking is also available; the Massport Parking Office (tel: +1 617 561 1673) can provide further information. There is a free shuttle service between all terminals and Airport Station. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline in advance of travel.
Short- and long-term parking is available at the Central Parking Garage, which is connected to Terminals A, B, C and E via pedestrian bridges and elevated moving walkways. The Terminal B car park offers premium price short- and long-term parking, while daily and hourly rates are also available at the Terminal E car park.
Long-term economy parking is provided in a remote location, connected to the terminals by a free 24-hour shuttle bus. There is also a free ‘cell phone lot’ for those collecting arriving passengers.

Major car hire companies at Boston Logan International Airport include: Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty. Telephones to contact these agencies are available in the arrival areas of all terminals.
There are two on-site hotels at Boston Logan International Airport plus a number of other hotels within a short distance. Many hotels offer a shuttle service to/from the airport.
Hotel information desks are available in Terminals A and E and in the American Airlines side of Terminal B, while hotel information phones are located in the arrival areas of Terminal C and the American Airways side of Terminal B.
