Best time to visit: 

Summer temperatures average from 14.4°C to 30°C (58°F to 86°F). Seasonal extremes are greater to the east of the Continental Divide. The Great Plains are subject to waves of frigid arctic air six to 12 times each winter. Winter temperatures average -10.6°C to -0.6°C (13°F to 31°F).

Required clothing: 

Lightweights for the summer and heavyweights with extra bundling for the winter.
