New York LaGuardia Airport Guide (LGA)

The Port Authority of New York, which owns the airport, has commissioned a study into the complete demolition and rebuilding LaGuardia. Work is expected to begin in 2014.

A free shuttle bus service links the four terminals.
From Manhattan, take Grand Central Parkway East; from Long Island, take Grand Central Parkway West. The airport is clearly signposted.
Public Transport
Bus: Buses run from New York LaGuardia Airport to all areas of New York City. The NYC Airporter (tel: (718) 777 5111; www.NYCAirporter.com) departs every half hour for Grand Central and Penn Stations, and the Central Bus Terminal (journey time: 90 minutes; fare: US$12). The local MTA (tel: (718) 330 1234; www.mta.info) M60 service connects LaGuardia with Manhattan (journey time: 105 minutes; fare: US$2.25) and the subway lines, while the Q48 serves Flushing.
Shuttle: A number of shared-ride services run door-to-door services on demand. Information on the various options is available at the Welcome Centre in the arrival area of each terminal.
Taxi: Official yellow taxis are readily available in front of all terminals. The metered fare to Manhattan is around US$30.
Terminal facilities
ATMs are located in all terminals. Bureaux de change can be found in Terminal B (Central Terminal), Terminal C (US Airways Terminal) and Terminal D (Delta Terminal).
Paid-for wireless internet is available in most public areas at New York LaGuardia Airport.
There are many restaurants, bars and fast food outlets in all terminals. These include an Irish pub in Terminal C and a bar in Terminal A.
Duty-free shops are located in Terminal B. Newsagents are located in all terminals. Other shops, such as book and gift shops, are located in Terminals B, C and D.
There are no left-luggage facilities at New York LaGuardia Airport. A lost property service is available (tel: (718) 533 3988). Luggage trolleys are located within the terminals.
New York LaGuardia Airport has a medical and dental service and baby-changing facilities.
Airport facilities
Business and conference facilities are available in the Laptop Lane business centre (tel: (718) 424 1301) in Terminal B. Facilities here include individual computer kiosks, a conference room for 12 people, internet access and fax services. Fax and internet services are also available at the Business Traveller Centre located in Terminal B. American Express operates a business centre in Terminal A. Meeting and conference facilities are available at some of the nearby hotels.
The airport is fully accessible to disabled travellers and is equipped with ramps, lifts, disabled toilets and TDD phones. All car parks have dedicated disabled spaces. Unaccompanied disabled passengers should inform their airline in advance of any special assistance they may need.
There are 7,500 public car parking spaces at New York LaGuardia Airport. Short-term and daily parking is available in the P1, P4, P5, P6 and P7 car parks. Long-term parking is available in the P3 car park, although there are limited spaces. Additional long-term car parking is located in private off-airport sites, which are very close to the airport and can be accessed by following the 'P' signs at the airport exit. Metered parking is available at Terminal A. Free shuttle buses run regularly between the car parks and the terminals. Further parking information is available (tel: (718) 533 3850).
Car hire companies located at New York LaGuardia Airport include: Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz and National. Free shuttle buses link the terminals with the respective pick up/drop off locations.
Airport hotels
Just opposite the airport site in Queens, the Courtyard New York LaGuardia Airport offers transportation to the terminals and boasts a business centre, dining facilities and a fitness area.
Located close to the Citi Field (home of the New York Mets baseball team) and a short distance from the airport, which it is linked to via a 24-hour shuttle, the Holiday Inn LaGuardia Airport has a gym, indoor pool, an on-site Italian restaurant and a bar. A business centre offers basic services for business travellers.
The room rate at LaGuardia Airport Hotel includes complimentary continental breakfast and Wi-Fi access. Another free offering, the shuttle bus service, links the property with the terminals and there is also a café/restaurant, business centre, and health club.
The 360-room LaGuardia Plaza hotel is five minutes drive to New York LaGuardia Airport and runs a free 24-hour shuttle bus service to/from the terminals. Facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna and a range of meeting rooms. On-site dining is available in the hotel restaurant.
