Driving directions: 

From downtown Chicago, head southwest on Interstate 55 (Stevenson Expressway north) for 8km (5 miles). Take the Route 50 exit 286 and go straight south on Route 50 to Chicago Midway International Airport.

Public transport rail: 

Rail: The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) (tel: (312) 836 7000; www.transitchicago.com) Orange Line serves the southwest side of Chicago and connects Chicago Midway International Airport with downtown Chicago. Travel time between downtown Chicago and the airport is around 30 minutes and the fare is US$2.25.

Public transport road: 

Bus: The Chicago Transit Authority operates bus services between Chicago Midway International Airport and the city. A one-way fare costs US$2.25.

Shuttle: Go Airport Express (tel: 1 888 284 3826; www.airportexpress.com) offers daily shuttle services between Chicago Midway International Airport, downtown Chicago and south suburban locations. Coach USA Wisconsin (tel: 1 877 324 7767; www.coachusa.com) and Omega Airport Shuttle (tel: (773) 734 6600; www.omegashuttle.com) provide regular transport between Midway and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

Taxi: Pick-up areas are located on the lower level in front of the terminal building. There are no flat rates; all taxicabs run on meters. Shared ride services and taxi vans are available.

Money: 

ATMs are located throughout the terminal. Currency exchange is available in concourse A.

Communication: 

Coin and credit card-operated telephones are located throughout the terminal and concourse buildings. Public telephones with internet connection and Wi-Fi internet access are also available in all concourses.

Food: 

The Midway Boulevard offers a selection of cuisines representing Chicago's rich cultural diversity. There are more than 20 different cafés, snack bars, bars and restaurants in Chicago International Airport.

Shopping: 

There are numerous shops at Chicago Midway International Airport, including news-stands, gift shops, a music shop, a golf shop and a toy shop.

Luggage: 

Items lost in the public areas of the airport are handled by the Chicago Police Department (tel: (773) 838 3003), which can be found in concourse C.

Other: 

The Midway Airport Interfaith Chapel is located on the Mezzanine Level in concourse C. Defibrillators (AEDs) are housed in cabinets linked to the City of Chicago's Emergency Medical Services and are located throughout the airport. To find these, follow the heart symbol on overhead signs.

Disabled facilities: 

Chicago Midway International Airport is equipped with a range of features for those with disabilities. Lifts are located throughout the passenger terminal and parking complex; all restaurant and restroom entrances are accessible to wheelchair users; and TTY telephones are available for hearing-impaired travellers. There are designated pick-up and drop-off areas on the upper and lower levels of the terminal roadway for disabled travellers, and designated parking spaces are located near each lift in the Parking Garage. Passengers should use the lifts to access the pedestrian bridge to the terminal building on the third floor. Designated parking spaces in the economy car parks are located near the entrance of each area. Free shuttle buses, equipped with wheelchair lifts, provide transportation between the economy lots and the terminal.

Car parking: 

Hourly parking is available on level 1 of the Parking Garage, while daily parking is available on levels 4, 5 and 6. Travellers can access the terminal building from the Parking Garage on levels 1, 3 and 4. A ‘cell phone lot’ for motorists waiting to meet arriving passengers is also available. Economy car parks are located on 55th Street, and a remote parking area can be found at 72nd Street and Cicero Street. A free 24-hour shuttle service is available at all economy and remote parking lots. Shuttle stops are identified by numbered signs. Car rental: 

Car hire counters are located on the lower level of the terminal building near baggage claim. Hire car pick-up and drop-off is located on level 2 of the airport's Parking Garage. The following hire car companies operate at Chicago Midway International Airport: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty.
