Airport information desks (tel: (412) 472 3525) can be found in the central areas of both terminals; blue courtesy information phones are located throughout the airport. The Travelers Aid desk (tel: (412) 472 3599), located on the baggage reclaim level of the Landside Terminal, offers general travel assistance and information in emergency situations. Ambassadors are also on hand to provide assistance (tel: (412) 472 5690).
Free shuttles connect the two terminals, daily 24 hours.
From central Pittsburgh, drive through Fort Pitt tunnels then take SR279 South and follow signs for the airport. The airport access road is at junction 6 of SR60 (SR22/30 for a part of its stretch).
Public Transport
Bus: The 28X Airport Flyer bus (tel: (412) 442 2000; www.portauthority.org/PAAC) runs to central Pittsburgh and Oakland, approximately every 20 minutes. The fare is US$2.60. Numerous shuttle and limousine services are available to destinations all over the region. General transport enquiries can be contacted on: (412) 472 5538.
Taxi: Taxi companies at the airport are Checker Cab (tel: (412) 664 5600) and Yellow Cab Co. of Pittsburgh (tel: (412) 321 8100). The airport has many shuttle services to nearby centres, and many of the local hotels operate a courtesy shuttle service.
Terminal facilities
ATMs and bureaux de change can be found in both terminals. There is also a post office on concourse D.
Telephones are located throughout the airport, and free Wi-Fi Internet access is also available.
There are plenty of restaurants, bars, fast-food outlets and cafés available at the airport.
Numerous shops are located in the Airside Terminal Airmall. There are also gift shops in the Landside Terminal and on concourses A, B and D.
A lost property service is available (tel: (412) 472 5525). Trolleys can be found throughout the airport.
These include emergency medical services and AED units (defibrillators). There is also a chapel and a mini spa.
Airport facilities
There are no business facilities at the airport. The Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport (tel: (724) 899 1234; pittsburghairport.hyatt.com) has business and conference facilities including high speed Internet access, private workstations, video editing, CD burning, multiple printing capabilities and presentation media; the hotel is directly connected to the airport via enclosed moving walkways.
There are disabled toilets, ramps and lifts, and TDD telephones; assistance is available on request. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. Disabled car parking is available in all car parks. Special transportation options for the disabled and over-65s are available to and from the airport via the ACCESS service (tel: (412) 562 5353.
The airport has short-, long- and extended-stay parking facilities. Short- and long-term parking areas are connected to the Landside Terminal by an enclosed walkway. The extended-stay car park has a free shuttle bus, which runs continuously to/from the Landside Terminal. Valet parking is also available. Call for parking information (tel: (412) 472 5050).
All major hire companies, including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless and Thrifty, are represented. Desks are located on the baggage claim level of the Landside Terminal. Pick-up and drop-off areas are on the lower level of the packaging garage, a short walk from the Landside Terminal.
Airport hotels
Days Inn Pittsburgh Airport is located 11km (7 miles) from Pittsburgh International Aiport and offers an airport shuttle service. Hotel facilities include free high-speed Internet, a fitness centre and business services.
Hampton Inn Airport is located 10km (6 miles) from Pittsburgh International Airport and is served by a shuttle bus service. Hotel facilities include a fitness centre and meeting/conference space.
Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport is located 10km (6 miles) from Pittsburgh International Airport and is linked via a complimentary 24-hour shuttle bus service. Hotel facilities include a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and an on-site restaurant.
The 336-room Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport is located in the airport grounds and offers a restaurant, swimming pool and a 24-hour gymnasium.
