Major improvements have been made to the access roadway system around the airport.
There are visitor information booths in the baggage reclaim area on the ground floor. Interpreters in the customs clearance and boarding areas for international flights speak Dutch, German, Arabic, Spanish and French.
From Memphis city centre, take I-240, and leave at the Airways exit south; at the fork, take Plough Boulevard left, rather than Airways on the right. Plough Boulevard ends at the airport.
Public Transport
Bus: The Memphis Area Transit Authority (tel: (901) 274 6282; ) offers public bus services from the lower outer drive near Terminal C; bus 32 runs into Memphis. There are also pre-bookable shuttle bus services to out-of-town destinations.
Taxi: Taxis are available in front of the terminal buildings.
Terminal facilities
There is a bank in the covered walkway between Concourses A and B; ATMs are located throughout the terminal. Wireless Internet access is available in the terminal.
There are many restaurants, bars, fast-food outlets, cafés and snack bars.
Shops include an Elvis gift shop selling licensed Graceland merchandise, and various duty-free outlets.
Lost property is handled by the Memphis Airport Authority Police, available 24 hours a day . No left luggage facility is available.
There is a health station and AED units situated throughout the airport. Baby-change facilities are available in all toilets and there is a nursery in the terminal. Children's play areas are located on all concourses.
Airport facilities
Three meeting rooms (tel: (901) 922 8000) are available at the Work Centre between piers A and B. The International Travel Insurance and Business Center (tel: (901) 922 8090) in Ticket Lobby B provides fax and photocopying facilities, as well as notary and financial services including a bureau de change. The Radisson Memphis Hotel (tel: (901) 332 2370; www.radisson.com/memphistn_airport) also has extensive conference, meeting and banqueting facilities.
The airport has adapted toilets, lifts and ramps. TDD telephones are situated in the main terminal and on all concourses. All car parks have free reserved spaces available for drivers displaying disability ID. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.
Short- and long-term parking (tel: (901) 922 8069) is available in the multi-storey car park next to the terminal building; the first 30 minutes of parking are free. There are also three long-term surface car parks (A, B and C) behind the multi-storey car park; they have a free shuttle service to/from the airport.
Companies include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty. There is a courtesy telephone located in baggage reclaim where passengers can phone car hire companies to ask to be picked up by complimentary shuttle bus and taken to the car hire pick-up area. Shuttle buses leave from outside baggage reclaim.
