Texas Weather, climate and geography
The weather in Texas varies across the state. The Gulf Coast experiences a maritime climate, whereas inland it's more continental, drier in the west, and wetter along the eastern border with Louisiana. Dallas experiences hot summers with higher humidity and thunderstorms; west and southwest Texas is hot and dry. Average temperature: 34 to 36ºC (93 to 96ºF) during summer; 12 to 14ºC (54 to 57ºF) during winter; and 19 to 22ºC (66 to 72ºF) for coastal winter temperatures. Hurricanes and tornados are not uncommon. The best time to visit Texas is during spring (late February to April), when the humidity is low and the days are warm and sunny.
