Formally known as Amerigo Vespucci Airport and Peretola Airport, Florence Airport is located a short distance from central Florence and is one of two major airports in Tuscany. The construction work to connect the airport and the city centre of Florence by extending tram line 2 is still in progress.

There is an information and tourist information desk (tel: +39 055 315 874) in Arrivals, open from 0900 to 1900 Mon-Sat and 0900 to 1400 on Sunday and Easter sunday.

Driving directions:

From central Florence, take the Via della Scala (which merges into Via Francesco Baracca). From here, take a slight right onto Viale L. Gori, which leads directly to the airport terminal.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus: ABusItalia (tel: +39 055 56501; www.fsbusitalia.it) shuttle service operates half-hourly (0530-0030) from Florence Airport, taking about 20 minutes to reach the city centre.

Taxi:Authorised taxis (tel: +39 055 4242 or +39 055 4390) can be found outside the terminal. The journey time into the city is about 15 minutes, and fixed rate fares start at €22, rising slightly at night and during holiday periods.

Public transport rail:

Rail: Regular shuttle buses link Florence Airport with Florence's Santa Maria Novella Railway Station, from which trains operate to destinations throughout Italy and beyond (tel: +39 199 892 021; www.trenitalia.com). The journey time from the airport to the station is about 20 minutes.

Tram: Line T2 connects the airport with the city of Florence.

Money:

An ATM is located in Arrivals with currency exchange.

Food:

There is a café and a choice of two snack/pizza outlets within the terminal.

Shopping:

There is a good selection of shops at Florence Airport, offering food and wine, gifts, fashion, jewellery and other goods. Duty-free is available in Departures.

Luggage:

There is a lost and found office (tel: +39 055 306 1300) in baggage reclaim. The airport's website also has a dedicated section for passengers to report and claim missing items.

Airport facilities

Conference and business:

The Masaccio lounge, on the first floor of the departures area, has an office area with computers, printers and internet facilities. Extensive meeting space is available at nearby hotels, including the Novotel Firenze Nord Aeroporto (tel: +39 0555 3821; www.novotel.com).

Communication Facilities:

Free Wi-Fi internet access (for up to one hour) is available throughout Florence Airport. Free Wi-Fi is also available within the airport’s Masaccio Lounge, where internet-enabled computers are also available.

Disabled facilities:

The terminal is fully accessible with special telephones, adapted toilets and dedicated parking spaces. Wheelchair provision and assistance is available from the desk located outside Departures. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.

Car parking:

Access to the long- and short-term car parks, which are immediately outside the terminal building, is available 24 hours a day. The first 15 minutes in the short-term car park is free of charge.

Car rental:

Car hire companies located at Florence Airport include: Auto Europa, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Maggiore, National, Goldcar, Enterprise and Sixt. Desks are located in Arrivals and a shuttle bus links the terminal with the hire car parking area.
