EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg is unusual in the fact that it is run by two countries, France and Switzerland. While the airport is entirely within France, the airport terminal is split into a French sector and Swiss sector, enabling entry procedures to be carried out for both countries. Driving directions:

EuroAirport is on French soil, connected to Switzerland by a customs road. The airport can be reached from the A35 motorway from Mulhouse and Basel, or via route 5 southbound from Freiburg.

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg is situated 8km (5 miles) northwest of Basel (in Switzerland), 25km (15.5 miles) south of Mulhouse (in France) and 70km (43 miles) south of Freiburg (in Germany). The airport is wholly within France, but is close to the Swiss and German borders.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus:BVB (tel: +41 61 685 1414 in Switzerland; www.bvb.ch) runs a service (bus 50) from EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg to Basel Station on the Swiss side – the journey time is 20 minutes and a single fare costs SFr 4.70.

Distribus route 11 (tel: +33 3 8969 7365; www.distribus.com) connects the airport with St Louis station (journey time: 10 minutes; fare: €2.50), from which trains connect to Mulhouse.

 

Flixbus (tel: +49 30 300 137 300) also runs services to Zurich, Freiburg, Colmar and Strasbourg.

Taxi:Taxi stands are located in front of the arrivals hall. Fares to Mulhouse start at €50, while it’s approximately €125 to Freiburg, and SFr50 to Basel.

Terminal facilities

Money:

There are ATMs and bureaux de change at various points within EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.

Food:

There is a restaurant on the 5th floor that serves both sectors of the terminal building, as well as a food court and brasserie. Various bars and snack bars are located on levels 2, 3 and 4.

Shopping:

There are several duty-free shops in the international departures area; these are available for everyone travelling to non-Schengen destinations. There is also a duty-free shop in arrivals for international passengers travelling into Switzerland. Several newsagents are present selling books, magazines and confectionary goods.

Luggage:

There is no left-luggage service at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. For lost or found items, contact the Airport Service Centre (tel: +33 3 8990 3111) on level 2.

Other:

There is a hotel information desk and a Swiss Railways ticket counter in the Swiss section of the airport. Children's play areas are also available.

Conference and business:

 

There are 10 fully-equipped conference rooms (tel: +33 3 8990 2050 in France or +41 61 325 2050 in Switzerland) at the airport providing a capacity for between two and 90 people. These are equipped with televisions, video recorders and projectors. There is also a photocopier in the public area of the airport, on level 2 of the France side.

Additional conference facilities for up to 100 or more delegates are offered at the nearby Captain Hôtel (tel: +33 3 8968 8282; www.captainhotel.com) on the French side, and the Airport Hotel (tel: +41 61 327 3030; www.airporthotelbasel.com) on the Swiss side.

Communication Facilities:

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Additionally, there are internet kiosks in the arrival and departure areas on both the French and Swiss sections of the terminal.

Disabled facilities:

Wheelchairs are available for use at the airport, as is transport for mobility impaired passengers to/from aircrafts in courtesy vehicles. Disabled toilets, lifts, specially lowered public telephones and designated disabled parking spaces are all located on-site. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.

Car parking:

Long- and short-stay car parking is available in numerous car parks on both the French and Swiss sides of EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg. There are no shuttle services between the car parks and the terminal, however all car parks are within a 10-minute walk of the terminal complex.

Car rental:

Car hire companies at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg include: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. All of these companies have offices on the second floor of the terminal building, in both the Swiss and the French sectors.
