Adelaide travel guide
Nestled between sweeping, white-sand beaches and the picturesque Adelaide Hills, Adelaide is the perfect place to sample some of Australia's finest cultural events and boutique wines.
Adelaide's city centre is a compact, pedestrian paradise of wide boulevards ringed by parkland. An easy stroll can deliver historic colonial architecture, a decent pavement-side coffee or a touch of retail therapy. Take the plunge into the seaside suburbs of Glenelg, where swimming, snorkelling, surfing or just plain lazing is a good way to soak up the Aussie vibe. If visiting between May and October, you may even spot a Southern Right or Humpback whale.
The more adventurous epicurean will find a wealth of temptation at Adelaide's Central Market. Those looking for a day's adventure can set off to sample mouth-watering local produce, and sniff, swirl and slurp their way through the finest wines from the famous Barossa and McLaren Vale wine regions.
