Usually covered with fabulous light and powder snow, the slopes at Park City Mountain Resort (or “PCMR” as it’s sometimes known) are largely carved through pretty woodland, with a few open snow fields right at the top of the ski area.
The carefully restored main street of Park City ski resort creeps uphill, with restaurants, bars and shops crowded along it. As you get away from downtown it gets quieter, and that's where much of the accommodation is located.
You can take time out to ski the town's other resorts. A short bus ride away is the plush Deer Valley and The Canyons, which has grown to become one of the largest ski areas in North America. After dark, the place is transformed into a fairytale setting and each January it fills with celebrities for Robert Redford's Sundance Film Festival (he owns a ski area nearby, also called Sundance).
Park City is located in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, less than an hour's drive from the state's capital Salt Lake City.
