With awards season in full swing, we're in the mood for a touch of glamour, a sprinkle of famous faces, and a glittering backdrop of fashion, parties and good food.

So slip on some over-sized sunglasses, pour yourself some fizz, and be ‘seen’ at one of these top five destinations on the A-list calendar.

Milan Fashion Week, 24 February – 3 March

Follow in the oh-so-fashionable footsteps of Mischa Barton, Winona Ryder and Naomi Campbell, and head to Milan for its world-famous fashion week.

Celeb haunts: After sufficient gawping at the latest trends, frequent the Emporio Armani Caffé for a stylish nibble. In the evening join the glitterati at Corso Como 10, run by ex-Italian Vogue chief Carla Sozzani, for Italian dishes infused with Asian flavours.

Oscars, 7 March

The most anticipated event in the acting world sees the good and the glamourous from around the globe descend upon Hollywood, in Los Angeles.

Celeb haunts: Open-patio restaurant The Ivy is an established celeb hangout and is always full to the brim with stylish types. Try and bag a spot on the patio of Japanese restaurant Koi for first-class Japanese fare amid some distinctly A-list faces.

Cannes Film Festival, 12-23 May

Sleek and summery Cannes Film Festival sees the cream of the movie industry flock to the French Riviera, with images of glowing stars descending the red-carpeted steps of the Palais des Festivals flashed across the world’s TV screens.

Celeb haunts: Join the glitterati and fill up on some top quality, pre-party cuisine at La Palme d’Or in the Hotel Martinez, which serves modern Mediterranean dishes amid an extremely stylish contemporary art deco interior.

Toronto International Film Festival, 9-18 September

Quirky and achingly cool, the Toronto International Film festival is renowned for celebrating independent and world cinema as well as blockbuster glam. Find directors, producers and actors alike frequenting the city’s colourful cafés and buzzing bars.

Celeb haunts: A popular haunt for film stars is French eatery Bistro 990, and for those looking for a hearty dose of nightlife, join the famous faces at Ultra Supper Club.

London Film Festival, 13-28 October

London is a glamourous spot whatever time of year, but October is when to spy luminaries from cutting-edge world cinema, with film premieres a plenty, including outdoor screenings in the likes of Trafalgar Square.

Celeb haunts: For a relaxing beverage with the stars, try celeb spots such as Mahiki, Nobu and China Whites.
