Rail
There are three major train stations in the state of Alabama: Anniston, Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. The stations are all served by Amtrak’s ‘Crescent’ service. The daily route links New York Penn Station with New Orleans, stopping at a number of major cities along the way, including Washington DC, Philadelphia, Lynchburg and Greenville. Amtrak (tel: +1 800 872 7245, in the USA only; www.amtrak.com) also operate a "thruway" bus service from Tuscaloosa, connecting rail passenger to the following towns: Brent, Marion, Selma, Camden, Thomasville, Grove Hill, Jackson and Mt. Vernon.
