Vienna International Airport Guide (VIE)
Information desks can be found in the check-in areas and at the bus station. The airport has a 24-hour flight information service (tel: (01) 7007 22233).
The check-in areas (known as Check-in 1, Check-in 1A, Check-in 2 and Check-in 3) are housed in one building and are within walking distance of each other.
The quickest route to the airport is via the A4 Airport Motorway, which leads southeast from the city centre. Take the exit marked ‘Flughafen' (meaning 'airport') and follow the road directly to the terminal.
Rail: The City Airport Train (tel: (01) 25250; www.cityairporttrain.com) runs to the City Air Terminal at Wien Mitte station in central Vienna (journey time: 16 minutes; fare: €11).
Bus: Vienna Airport Lines' (www.postbus.at) bus 1185 runs between the airport and city centre (journey time: 22minutes; fare: €8). Bus 1187 serves Westbahnhof railway station (journey time: 45 minutes; fare €8) and Meidling Bahnhof (journey time: 30 minutes). Bus 1183 serves other destinations in the city, including Stadion Center and Hotel NH Danube City. Buses depart from outside the central arrivals hall.
Taxis: Taxis to the city leave from outside the central arrivals hall. Taxis are offered by a range of providers, including Airport Driver (tel: (01) 22822; www.airportdriver.at) and Total Taxi (tel: 664 250 5005; www.totaltaxi.at). Fares into the city centre start at around €25 (but the average fare is approximately €33) and the journey time is generally around 20 minutes, depending on traffic. Banks and foreign exchange services are available in the departures and public areas of the terminal. There are also numerous ATMs throughout the airport.
A wide range of cafés, snack bars, restaurants and bars can be found within the terminal, both before and after the security checkpoints.
There are more than 70 shops offering a wide variety of gifts, designer clothing and food, including duty-free outlets for those travelling outside the European Union.
Porters (tel: (01) 7007 33140/1) are available on request at a small charge. Luggage trolleys are also available. There is a 24-hour left-luggage facility and safety deposit boxes in the main arrivals area. A lost property service (tel: (01) 7007 29360) is on hand to deal with lost or found items.
The VIP Terminal houses conference facilities, which can be booked via Vienna Airport Handling (tel: (01) 7007 26812). The NH Vienna Airport hotel (tel: (01) 701 510; www.nh-hotels.com) also has meeting facilities, as part of the Office Park complex.
There are 10 executive lounges within the departure areas. These offer facilities such as showers, refreshments and work space.
Disabled toilets, lifts and accessible telephones are available within the terminal. Wheelchair provision and assistance should be requested prior to arrival.
Disabled parking spaces are available in long-term car parks P3, P4 and C, as well as short-term car park K3. Half-price parking rates apply to those with the relevant permits or identification – contact the airport parking office (tel: (01) 7007 22886) for more information.
Passengers should notify the relevant airline at least 48 hours before their arrival at the airport.
There are five car parks with space for more than 20,000 vehicles in total. The short-term K1 (for drop-off) and K3 (for pick-up) car parks are directly opposite the terminal. The long-term multistorey car parks P3 and P4 are connected to the terminals, while car park C is opposite the Office Park.
