Airport news

The airport has recently undergone a major expansion, considerably increasing capacity through the addition of a second terminal.

Information

A telephone information service (tel: (33) 3688 5120) is available. For airport information once within the terminal buildings, passengers should go to the help desk of the airline with which they are flying. There is also a tourist information desk, which offers a hotel booking service.

Transfer between terminals

The domestic and international terminals are located a short distance apart.

Driving directions

To reach the airport from Guadalajara, take Highway 23 in the direction of Chapala - the highway leads directly to the airport, which is around 15km (10 miles) from Chapala.

Public Transport

Public transport road

Shuttle: The airport Servicio Colectivo airport minibus meets all flights outside the main terminal building and takes passengers to the city centre every hour (journey time: 35 minutes; fare: around MX$120). Tickets are available for purchase at the booths outside the arrivals areas.

Taxi: Authorised taxis are available: these can be paid for and reserved at counters in Arrivals. Fares are fixed on a zonal basis and cost from MX$250-300 for the 30-minute trip into the city.

Terminal facilities

Money

There is a full-service bank and various ATMs within the airport complex. Currency exchange services can be found at two kiosks.

Communication

Free Wi-Fi is available for customers at several cafés and restaurants. A post office is located on-site.

Food

There are restaurants, fast food outlets and bars at the airport. Among these are restaurants that are open 24 hours a day, burger joints and a pizza vendor.

Shopping

There are several shops at the airport, including a duty-free outlet in the Puerta Cero mall area.

Luggage

There is no left-luggage facility at the airport. For lost items, contact the airport’s main number or enquire at the relevant airline help desk. A baggage wrapping service is available within the terminals.

Other

There is an on-site travel agency to assist with accommodation and tour bookings.

Conference and business

A VIP lounge is available to American Express cardholders. The adjacent Hotel Casa Grande (tel: (33) 3678 9000; www.casagrande.com.mx), which is connected to the airport by a covered walkway, has a business centre with fax and photocopying facilities, as well as a bilingual secretarial service and eight meeting rooms (for up to 600 people).

Disabled facilities

Guadalajara International Airport is equipped with lifts, adapted telephones and disabled toilets. Disabled parking spaces are available in the car parking areas.

Car parking

Car parking is available opposite Terminal 1, adjacent to the airport hotel.

Car rental

Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National, Sixt and Thrifty are represented at the airport, along with several local operators.

Hotels

One hotel is connected to Terminal 1 by a covered walkway. Other hotels can be found in the city centre, about 25 minutes away – many of which operate shuttle connections. The 177-room Hotel Casa Grande is adjacent to the airport and is connected to the terminal by a covered walkway – the hotel also provides a courtesy shuttle service. Among its facilities is a pool, sauna, gym, restaurant/bar and games room.
