Airport news:
Christchurch International Airport is in the process of completely redeveloping the terminal complex. The entire NZ$195 million (£95 million) terminal project is due for completion by late 2012, but the first stage of development, including a new check-in hall and shopping area, was completed in 2011.

Travel and information centres are located in the Domestic Terminal and in the International Arrivals lounge. In addition to providing information and bookings for local accommodation, transport and sightseeing tours, airport staff operate a full travel agency service. From the centre of Christchurch (Cathedral Square), take Colombo Street northbound, and from there Bealey Avenue and Harper Avenue westbound. Turn right onto Fendalton Avenue and continue to Fendalton Road/Memorial Avenue. Christchurch International Airport is located at the end of Memorial Avenue off Drury Road.
Public Transport
Public transport road:
Bus: Metrobus (tel: (03) 366 8855) public bus 29 connects Christchurch International Airport to the city centre (journey time: 30 minutes). Buses 3 and 10 also serve the airport, terminating at Sumner and Cashmere respectively.
Shuttle: Shuttle buses can be shared and take travellers to their accommodation. Shuttle stops are available outside the domestic and international areas of the terminal building.
Taxi: Taxis are available to the city centre (journey time: 15-20 minutes; fare: NZ$45-$65 approximately) from a number of operators, including Corporate Cabs (tel: (03) 379 5888; www.corporatecabs.co.nz), Blue Star (tel: (03) 379 9799) and Green Cabs (tel: 0508 447 336; www.greencabs.co.nz).
Terminal facilities
Money:
A number of ATMs and bureaux de change are located throughout the terminal building. A full-service bank operates on the ground floor of the check-in area.
Communication:
Postal facilities can be found on the first floor of the terminal building. Fax and photocopying services are available at the left luggage office. Public telephones and internet kiosks are situated throughout both terminals. Wireless internet access is also available (the first 30 minutes is free).
Food:
There is a range of bars, cafés and restaurants at Christchurch International Airport; the majority of which can be found on the first floor.
Shopping:
Shops at Christchurch International Airport include a luggage retailer, newsagents, clothing outlets and souvenir shops. These are located throughout the airport, although the majority can be found in the new terminal area on the first floor. Duty-free shopping is situated in International Departures and International Arrivals.
Luggage:
The Travel & Information centres in the terminals should be contacted for lost and found property (tel: (03) 353 7774). A left-luggage service (tel: (03) 353 7040) is available next to the Travel & Information centre in the Domestic Terminal. Trolleys are available in both terminals.
Other:
There is a hairdresser, florist and a pharmacy in the Domestic Terminal. There are children's play areas on the first floor. New Zealand's International Antarctic Centre is a five-minute walk, or a free shuttle bus ride, from the terminal buildings. Showers are available in International Arrivals.

Conference and business facilities are available at the International Antarctic Centre (tel: (03) 353 7798; www.iceberg.co.nz) and at the Sudima Hotel Christchurch Airport (tel: (03) 358 3139; www.sudimahotels.com). Airline lounges are situated on the first floor of both terminals.
Disabled facilities:
Facilities for disabled travellers include lifts, automatic doors, wheelchair accessible toilets and showers, ATM machines with Braille keys, and dedicated parking spaces in all car parks. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.
Car parking:
There are open-air short- and long-term parking spaces, as well as a multi-storey car parking building, next to the terminals.
Car rental:
Car hire companies at Christchurch International Airport include: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Thrifty, along with a number of local providers. Car hire offices are located in Domestic and International Arrivals. Backpackers' camper van hire is also available from several operators in the International Terminal.
