Terminal T3 is still under construction, but the new suburban rail link from the city is operational, and accessible via a temporary entrance from outside Arrivals. Work on the terminal, together with a second runway, will be completed during 2011.
Airport information points (tel: 902 404 704) can be found in Arrivals at all three terminals and in Departures in Terminal 2. The multilingual staff wear mint green jackets for easy identification. Airlines also have information desks in both Arrivals and Departures.
Terminals 1 and 2 are connected.
From the airport, the N-340 leads to Fuengirola (south-west of the airport) and Málaga (north-east of the airport). Once in Malaga, the A-45 leads north to Cordoba. The airport is also accessible from the E-15 motorway, which leads to the towns of the Costa del Sol.
Public Transport
Rail: Line C1 local train services (tel: 902 240 202; www.renfe.com) link the airport with central Málaga. The station is in the new Terminal 3. The journey time is 15 minutes.
Bus: The Airport Express line 75 (tel: 902 527 200; www.emtmalaga.es) and regular bus 19 connect the airport with central Malaga (journey time: approximately 20 minutes), while Alsa (tel: 902 422 242; www.alsa.es) provides services to and from Seville and Granada.
Taxi:Taxi ranks are located outside Terminal 1 and the Terminal 3 arrivals area and the Terminal 2 departures area. Call Taxi Unión (tel: 952 040 804; www.taxi-union.es) or Unitaxi (tel: 952 333 333; www.unitaxi.es) if you wish to pre-book.
Terminal facilities
There is a bank in the Terminal 2 arrivals area, as well as several ATMs and a post office in Terminal 1. Bureaux de change are available at the bank, in the baggage reclaim halls in both terminals, and in the Terminal 2 Departures lounge.
Internet access and public telephones are available in all terminals.
Bars, restaurants and fast-food outlets can be found in the Centro Plaza in Terminal 1. Bars and cafés are also available in the Centro Comercial in Departures on the second floor of Terminal 2.
A variety of shops, including a pharmacy, can be found in the Central Plaza in Terminal 1. Many more shops, including duty-free, are available in the Centro Comercial in Departures on the second floor of Terminal 2.
There is no left-luggage facility at the airport. Lost property offices (tel: (952) 048 837 or 851) are located in both terminals, and a baggage wrapping service in present in Terminal 2.
There is a medical service, pharmacy, oratory and exhibition area, as well as a chapel, an aviation museum and numerous travel agencies.
Airport facilities
The Costa del Sol VIP Lounge is situated in Terminal 2 (tel: (952) 048 823) and can be hired for meetings and conferences. The Europa VIP Lounge (tel: (952) 048 854) is also located in Terminal 2 and is equipped with telephone and fax facilities, as well as TV, newspapers and complimentary drinks and snacks. The nearby Express by Holiday Inn Hotel (tel: (952) 248 500; www.hiexpress.com) has a business centre and a small meeting room for up to 15 people, while larger hotels in Málaga centre also offer meetings facilities, as does the Convention Centre 4km (2.5 miles) away.
Malaga Airport is well-equipped for disabled travellers. There are lifts and ramps, adapted toilets, reserved seats in waiting areas, and reserved parking spaces for disabled badge holders in the car parks. The Green Jackets provide assistance and wheelchair facilities in both terminals. For further assistance, passengers should contact their airline direct prior to travel.
A five-storey car park opened in 2010 at the airport entrance, offering 2,500 spaces. It is connected at the north end to the current P2 car park. Both covered and outdoor parking is available in the car park outside Terminal 2, while long-term parking is available in the Terminal 1 car park (tel: 952 048 849). There is a free car park adjacent to the suburban railway station.
Car hire companies represented at the airport include Auriga Crown, Autos Lido, Avis, Europcar, Goldcar, Hertz, National Alesa and Sixt, with desks in both terminals. Other local operators are also represented.
Airport hotels
Holiday Inn Express Malaga Airport is 0.8km (0.5 miles) from Malaga Airport. It is reached by public bus route 19, but guests will have their bus fare refunded upon checking in. Hotel facilities include an on-site restaurant, basic business services and a meeting room for up to 15 delegates.
Malaga Picasso Hotel is located close to Malaga Airport and is served by bus 19. The hotel is close to a number of beaches and a golf course and offers extensive gardens with an outdoor pool.
