Plans are in place to establish a US immigration pre-clearance facility, but a date for this is yet to be confirmed.

Information:

There is an information desk close to the airport entrance/exit. A tourist information stand can be found in Arrivals, where various tour operators and car hire companies also have booths.

Driving directions:

The terminals are located off Carretera Aeropuerto. To reach this road from the south, take the main coast road; from the north, take the Boulevard Hotelero; and from Higúey, head south (DR-4) until Autovia del Este (DR-3) and then head east. The total drive time from Higúey to the airport is approximately 45 minutes.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus: The Bavaro Express Company (tel: +1 809 682 9670; www.expresobavaro.com) have modern buses with air conditioning that serve various destinations on the island.

Shuttle: Most resorts in the area offer pre-arranged shuttle connections with the airport. If they don't you can book transfers through Dominican Airport Transfers (www.dominicanairporttransfers.com). 

Taxi: Taxis (tel: +1 809 552 0617) are readily available outside Arrivals. Prices are usually fixed.

Terminal facilities

Money:

ATMs, currency exchange facilities and other banking services are available in the arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2.

Food:

There is a good choice of cafés, bars and restaurants at Punta Cana International Airport offering both local and international foods. These can be found in the main food court area and at other locations throughout the main terminals.

Shopping:

There is a large duty-free shopping complex at Punta Cana International Airport, along with a range of kiosks and other retailers. A free shuttle operates from the airport to the nearby Galerias Punta Cana shopping centre, which has a good selection of shops.

Luggage:

There is no left-luggage service. A lost property office (tel: +1 809 959 2376) is located in the arrivals area, close to baggage reclaim. Luggage trolleys are available.

Other:

Other facilities at Punta Cana International Airport include a first aid area, children's play area and a baby changing room.

Facilities for disabled passengers include reserved parking spaces, ramps and toilets that are easily accessible to wheelchair users.

Car parking:

Parking options are plentiful at the airport, with short- and long-term lots available, as well as dedicated drop-off and pick-up points.

Car hire at Punta Cana International Airport is available from Avis, Budget, Dollar, Europcar, National, Sixt, Payless, Thrifty and Hertz – courtesy shuttles operate from the airport terminal.
