Lima Anniversary (El Aniversario de Lima)

The founding of Lima by the conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1532 is marked each year on the anniversary of that day with a mix of popular, religious and military events. A street parade takes place in the morning and a mass at midday in the cathedral. Flowers are laid around the Pizzaro monument and a programme of music and dance entertains the crowds that gather in the early evening. Fireworks close the show.

Date: 18 January 2019 - 18 January 2019
Venue: Central Lima.
