Driving directions:

From central Montevideo take Avenida Italia (Route 101) past the Estadio Centenario towards Carrasco. At Barra de Carrasco turn north on to Avenida de las Americas, which leads directly to the airport.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus: Three bus companies operate services to and from the airport; COPSA (tel: 1975; www.copsa.com.uy), COT (tel: 2600 3195; www.cot.com.uy) and Cutcsa (tel: 2204 0000; www.cutcsa.com.uy). Fares to Montevideo start at $U33, and journey time is a little over 45 minutes.

Taxi: Official taxis (tel: 2604 0323; www.taxisaeropuerto.com) are available outside Arrivals. Fares start at about $U1200 and journey time to the city centre is 20-30 minutes depending on time of day.

Terminal facilities

Money:

There is a HSBC bank with an ATM and a bureaux de change in the terminal.

Food:

There is a choice of a restaurant, fast food outlets and cafés, both airside and landside.

Shopping:

There are several smaller shops selling gifts, newspapers, books etc, plus large duty-free outlets available to both arriving and departing passengers.

Luggage:

Left luggage facilities are available in Arrivals – those wishing to use this service should ask at the main information desk. Luggage trolleys are provided, and bag wrapping services are also offered. The National Police (tel: 2604 0329, ext. 1211) handles enquiries about items mislaid in the airport.

Other:

There is a pharmacy, an outdoor terrace and two VIP lounges. A boarding fee is payable by departing passengers, currently set at US$40 for international flights.

Airport facilities

Conference and business:

Two VIP lounges are available, one of which (tel: 2604 0329, Ext. 1600; www.aeropuertosvipclub.com.uy) is equipped with a business centre and a meeting room. More extensive meetings and conference facilities are available at the nearby Hostería del Lago hotel (tel: 2601 2210; www.hosteriadelago.com).

Communication Facilities:

There is a post office in Arrivals, along with telephone services and free Wi-Fi. Mobile telephones must be declared on entry to Uruguay.

Disabled facilities:

The airport terminal is on two levels – escalators are available, as are disable toilets. Passengers requiring assistance should contact their airline in advance of travel.

Car parking:

Long and short-stay parking spaces for 1,200 vehicles are available opposite the terminal entrance. The first 10 minutes are free of charge and payment booths are located outside Arrivals.

Car rental:

Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz are represented at the airport – desks are located in the public area on the Arrivals level.
