Airport news:

The construction of a new Cairo Metro line linking the airport with the city is planned to open in 2019.

Information:

Information desks are located in the arrivals and departures halls and in the transit hall. Flight information (tel: +20 2 2265 5000) is available 24 hours a day. Tourist police (tel: +20 2 2265 3642) are located within the terminals and can also provide information.

Driving directions:

The airport and Heliopolis are well signposted from the city centre. From the city, head across the 6th October Bridge on to Salah Salem/El-Orouba Road. This leads directly to Heliopolis where the airport is located. Cairo International Airport can also be reached via a link road from the Cairo Ring Road. The approximate driving time from the city centre is 25 minutes.

Transfer between terminals:

Shuttle buses and an automated people mover system link the terminals.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus: Public buses run to a number of destinations in the city from outside the terminals. Intercity connections link the airport with Alexandria.

Shuttle: A shuttle bus service connects the airport with Heliopolis and central Cairo (journey time: 45 minutes; fare: 25LE). It operates at half-hourly intervals and it is recommended to reserve in advance (tel: +20 2 2265 5000).

Taxi: Taxis to central Cairo are available from outside Arrivals (journey time: 30 minutes; fare: around 80LE). Haggling is recommended for cabs with no meter, while newer white taxis have meters.

Terminal facilities

Money:

Cairo International Airport has banks and ATMs in Terminals 1 and 3. 24-hour bureaux de change services are located in the departure areas of all terminals.

Food:

There are numerous restaurants at Cairo International Airport, including a range of international fast-food and coffee chains. Bars are located in the departure halls of Terminals 1 and 3 and are open 24 hours a day.

Shopping:

Many shops, including duty-free outlets, gift retailers, clothes shops, bookshops and newsagents, are located in the departure halls of Terminals 1 and 3 and in the transit hall.

Luggage:

Baggage trolleys and porters are available. Left-luggage facilities can be found in both terminals. A lost and found service is also present in Terminal 1 (tel: +20 2 2265 5246).

Other:

Other facilities available at Cairo International Airport include numerous tour operators and travel agencies, as well as pharmacies, located in the departure areas of Terminals 1 and 3.

Airport facilities

Conference and business:

The business centre in Terminal 1 provides computer and fax services. There is a choice of VIP lounges in the terminals, which can also provide a range of business services upon request. In addition, business facilities and meeting rooms can be found in the Novotel Cairo Airport Hotel (tel: +20 111 111 3822; www.novotel.com).

Additional meeting facilities are available at the new Le Méridien Cairo Airport hotel attached to Terminal 3 (tel: +20 2 2265 9600; www.lemeridiencairoairport.com).

Communication Facilities:

The on-site post office is open 24 hours a day. There are public telephones throughout the airport and paid-for Wi-Fi internet access is also accessible in most areas of the terminals.

Disabled facilities:

Wheelchairs are available on request - passengers should contact their airline for assistance. There are adapted toilets for the disabled within the terminals, along with dedicated car parking spaces close to the terminals.

Car parking:

There are short- and long-term parking facilities directly outside all terminals. In total, more than 3,600 spaces are available.

Car rental:

Car hire companies represented at Cairo International Airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. Offices for these providers are located in all terminals.
