Cancun International Airport Guide (CUN)
Here you'll find essential information on Cancún International Airport, including contact details, airport transfer facts, details of airport facilities, and how to get there.
A second runway and a new control tower were both inaugurated in 2009.
There are airport representatives in both terminals, to provide information on the airport and the location of facilities. For information prior to travel, passengers should contact their airline, as there is no dedicated information telephone number for the airport. Alternatively, passengers can e-mail the airport.
An airport shuttle service runs between the terminal main entrances.
Drivers should take Carretera Cancún-Chetumal until the km 22 exit, and then follow signs for the airport.
Public Transport
Bus: There is an official public shuttle service from the airport to Cancún (tel: (998) 848 0335; www.cancunsharedshuttle.com) and the Riviera Maya, making a number of stops at various hotels and towns. The shuttle leaves the airport when the bus is full and journey times can be lengthy. Tickets can be purchased at the desk in the baggage reclaim area. Shuttles run door-to-door services to hotels in and around Cancun; it is possible and recommended to reserve a shuttle in advance, via the website. A public bus service links the airport with the Cancún bus station, but this is not a recommended option for travellers.
Taxi: An official taxi company (tel: 1 800 317 1921; www.cancun-taxi.com) provides individual and group services from the airport. Taxis can be reserved in advance online or paid for at the airport just after the Arrivals hall.
