About Chania International Airport (CHQ)
Chania International Airport - also known as Ioannis Daskalogiannis Airport - is located in northwestern Crete near the city of Chania (sometimes spelled Hania). Our Chania International Airport guide includes information on airport facilities, public transport connections and local hotels.
Due to recent increases in the volume of passengers handled by Chania International Airport, there are plans to expand and improve the terminal facilities; however no dates have been released for the commencement of this work.
Tourist and airport information desks are located in the arrivals area of the airport. English, and a number of additional foreign languages, is spoken by staff.
From central Chania, driving to the airport involves taking a number of relatively minor roads eastbound from the city centre. However, Chania International Airport is clearly signposted and the driving time is around 30 minutes.
Chania International Airport is located 15km (9 miles) east of Chania city, on the Akrotiri Peninsula, part of the Greek island of Crete.
