King Shaka International Airport (DUR)
The airport is located 35km (22 miles) north of central Durban.

Also known as La Mercy Airport, King Shaka International opened for business in May 2010, replacing the former Durban International Airport. A direct rail link with the city is planned as part of the second phase of development.
An airport information desk (tel: 031 451 6758) is situated in the Departures area, while Arrivals has a tourist information counter.
From central Durban take the N3 highway west for a short distance, and turn north on to the N2 highway, which passes the airport, and from which the terminals are signposted.
Public Transport
Shuttle: Regular shuttle buses operate to Durban city centre between 0500-2200. Coastal Motor Transport (tel: 031 465 5573; www.airportbustransport.co.za) provide these services; journey time is around 40 minutes. There is also an hourly shuttle (which must be pre-booked) linking the airport with Durban and Umhlanga hotels, the Durban beachfront and the International Convention Centre. Taxi: Taxi services are available from outside Departures, among companies offering cabs are Al Hassan Taxis (tel: 031 564 0734); Aussies Radio Taxis (tel: 031 309 788); Boshoff Taxis (tel: 031 306 6330); Checkers Radio Taxis (tel: 031 465 5573); and Eagle Radio Taxis (tel: 031 337 2442).
Terminal facilities
Standard Bank offers exchange services and ATMs. A VAT refund facility is available in Departures. There are public phones throughout the terminal, and a post office in the main concourse.
There are a number of restaurants and bars throughout both Arrivals and Departures.
Duty-free shopping is available airside in Departures, and there are a number of shops selling local crafts, giftware, clothing and other items.
Porterage is available for those in need of assistance, primarily the disabled and elderly; this should be arranged in advance (tel: (031) 451 6544).
First-aid facilities are also available. There is a pharmacy on the first floor. A Muslim prayer room is also available.
Airport facilities
There is a South African Airways business lounge in the Departures area (tel: 031 450 2246) for domestic passengers, while ACSA offers a VIP lounge facility in Arrivals. A further Premier Lounge (tel: 031 469 2811), available to all passengers on payment of a fee, is located in Departures. Extensive meetings and conference facilities, including the recently opened International Conference Centre (tel: 031 360 1000; www.icc.co.za), are to be found in central Durban.
The airport is fully accessible with lifts, porterage assistance, and specially equipped toilets.
Long- and short-term car parks are available at the airport, with space for almost 2,000 vehicles.
Avis, Budget, First, Hertz, Thrifty and Woodford are represented at the airport, and desks are located in Arrivals.
