Driving directions:

From Varna, head west on the E70. After about 4km (2.5 miles), turn onto the A2 (Hemus motorway) and follow signs to the airport. Both the airport and the city are well signposted. The drive generally takes about 15 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus:The bus stop is in front of Terminal 2. Bus 409 (tel: +359 52 572 200; www.gtvarna.com- Bulgarian language only) operates every 15 minutes to Golden Sands via the coach station in Varna city centre (fare: лв1-3 depending on destination). Tickets can only be bought from the ticket collector.

Taxi:The authorised taxi rank is located in front of the arrivals hall at Terminal 1, next to the car park. The fare into Varna is around лв10-20, and the journey time is 30 minutes. Taxis can be booked at the office inside Terminal 2 or in advance (tel: +359 886 388 388; www.oktaxivarna.com- Bulgarian language only).

Terminal facilities

Money:

ATMs and foreign exchange services are available throughout the terminal. Additionally, there is a bank in the check-in area.

Food:

Cafés can be found in the public and transit areas of the terminal. These serve fast food, beers, hot drinks, soft drinks, wines, spirits, sandwiches and snacks.

Shopping:

There are duty-free shops in the departures and arrivals areas of Terminal 2; these outlets sell the usual range of cigarettes, wines and spirits, perfumes, cosmetics, watches and sunglasses. Other shops at Varna Airport include newsagents, gift shops and a toy retailer.

Luggage:

A 24-hour lost and found office (tel: +359 52 573 423) operates at Varna Airport that can assist passengers with lost luggage queries. Baggage-wrapping services are available in the main check-in area.

Other:

Baby-changing rooms and a children's play area are available in the departures area. A first-aid centre in the public area is on hand to deal with medical emergencies. There is also an outdoor observation terrace.

Airport facilities

Conference and business:

There is a VIP lounge (tel: +359 52 573 460) at the airport with a meeting room, fax machine, printers and computers with internet access. All passengers can make use of this area for a fee. Larger hotels in the city centre offer more extensive business facilities, including meeting and conference rooms.

Disabled facilities:

Facilities for disabled people at Varna Airport include reserved parking spaces, wheelchair hire, dedicated toilets, ramps and a lift for loading and unloading passengers to and from the aircraft. The airport's special assistance department (tel: +359 52 573 323) is on hand to provide additional support to disabled passengers.

Car parking:

A large car park is available opposite the terminal buildings.

Car rental:

Car hire companies represented at Varna Airport include: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt and Top Rent-a-Car. Car hire desks are located in the arrivals area of Terminal 2.
