About Bilbao Airport (BIO)

Driving directions:

From central Bilbao, head north on Artxanda-Salbe Tunela, and at the junction, take a right onto the eastbound N-637 towards Aireportua. From here, take the junction 18 exit onto the BI-631 and finally a left turn onto the N-633; this road leads to the airport terminal. The total drive time from central Bilbao to the airport is approximately 15 minutes.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus:Bizkaibus (tel: +34 902 222 265; www.bizkaia.net) operates service A3247 between the airport and the city centre. Journey time is 20 minutes and the single fare is €1.45. Services operate every 30 minutes from 0615-0000. Other routes run from the airport to San Sebastián, Zarautz, Arrasate, Bergara and Elbar.

Taxi:Metered taxis (tel: +34 944 800 909; www.taxisaeropuertobilbao.com) are readily available outside the terminal. Journey time into the city is about 15 minutes, depending on traffic conditions, and the average fare is around €25.

Terminal facilities

Money:

There are ATMs available both in Departures and Arrivals.

Food:

There is a full-service restaurant in Departures, along with a fast food outlet offering Mediterranean-style snacks. In the boarding area, there is a self-service cafeteria, and there is another café in the public zone.

Shopping:

There is a large shopping centre in Departures, offering duty-free goods to passengers leaving the EU. Additionally there is a women's fashion outlet, a delicatessen selling regional foods, and a choice of newsagents and bookstores.

Luggage:

A lost property office (tel: +34 91 321 1000) is situated in the check-in area of the airport. Luggage trolleys are provided where required, and a baggage wrapping service is also available. Left luggage services are not available at the airport.

Other:

There is a children's play area in the arrivals hall on the first floor.

Airport facilities

Disabled facilities:

The terminal is fully wheelchair-accessible, and pre-arranged assistance is available for all aspects of the airport's service (tel: +34 91 321 1000). A wheelchair drop-off/pick-up space is provided outside the terminal entrance.

Car parking:

Short-stay parking (up to 30 minutes) is located opposite the terminal. The main car park is about 100m (328ft) away, and connected to the building via tunnel – it has capacity for nearly 3,000 vehicles. The long stay car park is also very close to the terminal, and is also linked by a covered walkway.

Car rental:

Car hire companies: Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt are represented at the airport. Desks are located in the parking area opposite the terminal.
