Where to stay in Cambodia

Hotels

Cambodia offers a wide range of accommodation to suit different budgets and travel styles. Options range from simple guesthouses and hostels to boutique hotels and international luxury resorts. The greatest choice is found in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, while coastal areas and islands offer a growing number of beach resorts and eco-lodges.

Guesthouses and mid-range hotels are widely available and generally offer good value, with private rooms, air-conditioning and Wi-Fi common even at modest prices. In tourist centres, accommodation standards are generally good, though travellers are advised to check recent reviews, as quality can vary. Booking ahead is recommended during peak travel periods, particularly between November and February.

Camping

Camping may be possible in certain rural areas or as part of organised eco-tours and trekking trips, particularly in national parks or forested regions. Independent wild camping is not recommended due to safety concerns, land ownership issues and the presence of unexploded ordnance in some remote areas. Visitors seeking a nature-focused experience are advised to choose eco-lodges or guided tours rather than camping independently.
