Where to stay in Zimbabwe

Hotels

Zimbabwe offers a broad range of accommodation options to suit different budgets and travel styles. In major cities such as Harare and Bulawayo, visitors will find international-standard hotels, business hotels and smaller guesthouses. In tourist areas like Victoria Falls, accommodation ranges from luxury riverside lodges and safari camps to mid-range hotels and budget-friendly lodgings.

Safari lodges and tented camps are a highlight of staying in Zimbabwe, particularly in and around national parks. These often include guided activities, meals and transfers as part of the stay. Standards are generally high, but facilities can vary depending on location, so travellers are advised to check what is included before booking. Advance reservations are recommended during peak travel seasons, especially from June to October.

Camping

Camping is a popular way to experience Zimbabwe's national parks and wilderness areas, particularly for self-drive travellers and those seeking a closer connection to nature. Many national parks offer designated campsites, some with basic facilities such as ablution blocks, while others are more rustic and suitable for experienced campers.

Camping outside designated areas is not recommended due to safety concerns, wildlife and land access issues. Visitors should follow park regulations, store food securely and remain aware of wildlife at all times. Booking campsites in advance is advised, particularly during the dry season when demand is highest. Travellers planning to camp should be well prepared and self-sufficient, especially in remote locations.
